What a fun dad!

What did Ryan do when he got home last night? He got Christian all bundled up and they headed out into the dark snowy night! Christian was thrilled!
Ryan also got out Christian's "really fast car" and let him drive around in the snow.
That car has absolutely no traction, so Ryan chased after it and pushed Christian all around the yard. Mommy would not have done this and that is why we love our "really fun daddy!"

"Mean Guy"

On Sunday when we were coming home from church we were witness to a "road rage" incident. It was pretty bad. There was one erratic driver who was probably high and was running people off the roads. He encountered one concerned citizen who decided to confront him at a traffic light. A yelling match involving the most hateful, venomous language I have ever heard took place right in front of our car. Thankfully Mr. Concerned Citizen decided to run back to his car while Mr. Road Rage charged at him. And thankfully my husband who had already put the car in park did not exit the car when I asked him to please stay put! All the while a wide-eyed three year old was observing it all.
This is the first real "mean guy" Christian has ever seen. The first real display of evil he's ever been witness to. So we ended up spending most of Sunday talking about the "mean guy."

"Mommy why didn't you spank that mean guy?"

"Maybe Jesus will spank that mean guy!"

"Does that mean guy go to our church?"
"Do we know that mean guy?"

"Are we going to buy that mean guy a Christmas present?"
"I don't like that mean guy or his red car."

"Does that mean guy have a house?"

"Where is that mean guy's house? I don't want to go there."

And so on and so on....

Eleven o'clock at night Christian even popped into our room worrying about that mean guy!

-------------------------------------------------

The "mean guy" even popped into our conversation over lunch on Monday with Abby and Nate. Here's how the conversation went:

C:"I saw a mean guy yesterday."

A: "Mean guys aren't real!"

C:"Oh, yes they are! I saw one for real, in real life. In a coat!"

A: "Really? What do mean guys do?"

Nate is sitting and listening to all of this.

C: "Mean guys yell mean stuff. And try and hit people. And scare people and make them run. And they do this (waving his arms around in the air).
A: "You saw a mean guy do that?"
C: "I saw him and he drove his car really fast. He's gone now."
N: "Maybe Jesus need help that mean guy be happy."
Me: "You're right Nate we need to pray that Jesus will help him to not be mean anymore."
And I'm totally not making this up! Nate folded his hands, bowed his head and prayed for that mean guy. I couldn't understand exactly what he said. If you've ever heard Nate pray you know that it's quick and mumbled, but I know God heard every word.
And thankfully, the mean guy hasn't been brought up again!

Just a few pictures from Christian

Christian has been doing a lot of building lately. He's constantly building some new structure for his fire engine or his Rescue Heroes and he always wants me to drop what I'm doing and come and see what he's made. That was getting a little old, so I gave him my camera and told him to start taking pictures, then I could see it and so could Daddy when he got home. These are the pictures we ended up with. I love giving him my camera because it's always so interesting to see things through his eyes.

Big Brother, Little Sister

It's so fun to watch Christian and McKenna's relationship develop! They are really starting to become friends. No one can get McKenna to laugh like Christian can. She loves taking baths with him because he's so entertaining. She laughs all the time when he's around. I love it! I love it that they love each other!

McKenna washing Christian's hair! They're so funny!

Christian had been playing peek-a-boo with McKenna and she thought it was hysterical. Of course he stopped playing with her as soon as I got the camera, but McKenna still thought it was funny when I was talking about it. Check it out.

Little Green Alligator

A very scary thing happened today! Christian was eaten by a roaring alligator!
Did you know alligator's could roar?
Then Nathan was taken captive by the same roaring alligator! We're going to have to watch out around here!

Firetrucks, Pumpkins and Power Wheels!

Our Saturday!

Saturday morning was the open house at our local fire station. Christian was so excited about going. He had his fireman boots on for over an hour before it was time to go! He couldn't stop talking about going for a ride on a fire engine, seeing the firemen, etc.

And then we got there and it all changed. In typical three year old fashion, he decided he did not want to ride on a fire engine, he did not want to eat cotton candy, he did not want to talk to the firemen, he did not want a fire truck coloring book, he did not like any of it! Grrr...

This is Christian refusing to even check out the helicopter.

I think there were just too many wild kids there and everyone kept talking to Christian (since he was basically the only kid dressed up) telling him what a great fireman outfit he had. I think the whole thing was just a bit overwhelming, which is why I'm really glad we did it. He needs to learn to handle those situations. And despite his bad mood we stayed for quite awhile and even enjoyed a yummy lunch of hot dogs, chips and cup cakes. Fire fighters do know how to throw a party!

By the time we were ready to leave Christian was starting to enjoy himself. Although by that time there had been an emergency and most of the fire fighters had to go out on a call and the fire truck rides stopped.

It was annoying, but I'm still glad we did it.

Next we headed to our most favorite fall spot...Reynold's Farm!! We never even made it to the pumpkin patch. We were too busy enjoying everything else.

We go to Reynold's Farm multiple times during the fall and we could seriously stay there all day. And Christian loved it! Much more his style...lots of running, exploring, sand to play in, hay bales to jump off of, a huge slide, goats and sheep to feed, swings, ladders, tunnels, corn mazes, wagons, pumpkins, apple cider, so so fun!

We ended the day by charging up the Power Wheels jeep. It's been about 9 months since this toy has gotten any use mainly because we can't find the power cord to charge the battery. So we borrowed one from our neighbor who just got a Power Wheels four wheeler and Christian had so much fun. He actually knows how to steer it now, which means we can sit and watch him drive around instead pulling him out of whatever tree or bush he ends up in.
