The Glee of Being Three

Our little town is having a carnival this week. Yes, it's one of those traveling things. Believe it or not this is the very first time in my entire life that I have gone to one of these carnivals with "portable" rides. Thanks to a Dateline episode that I watched years ago I know that these rides have no federal safety standards and no one regulates them, so I'm not a fan, but Ryan thinks I should live a little so we went anyway. And look - we lived to tell about it :)I'm glad I didn't spoil a good time for my boys because they BOTH had a blast. Look at the glee on those faces.

Christian loved every ride he went on . No fear in this boy, just sheer delight!

McKenna was such a great sport. She just smiled and took it all in! What a blessing she is!
This picture is proof that I was actually there. Ryan and I always joke about how it always ends up looking like he and Christian go places by themselves because I never end up being in any of the pictures. So here I am! Dads get all the glory of doing the fun stuff and moms just deal with the fussy tiredness at the end of it all :)
Notice the ice cream in Ryan's hair. It's a dangerous idea to let your three yr old sit on your shoulders and eat ice cream, but he was tired and it was a long walk back to the car!

Way to live a little. We grew up on traveling carnivals, and look I'm still moving and shaking. Sure we all have an ocassional twitch but hey your only young once. Christian really looked like he enjoyed his day! Such wonderful pictures of such a happy boy!

Christian looked like he had a great time. I'm with you Judy, those traveling carnivals make me nervous...have you ever looked at the people that run those rides?...I don't know that I could put my "life" in their hands! Good for you for being brave! I love the ice cream in Ryan's hair, too funny! You're right about Dad's getting all the "glory" and getting to be in all the pictures. I'm glad to see you in one!

fun! I always feel like the kids rides couldn't be too dangerous, but not sure what i'll do when they want to ride the big ones! those things scare me for so many reasons!
I can see Christian had a great time!

Who had the most fun, ryan or Christian? I love the delight on both faces. Your lack of carnival experience is probably my fault. Just he atmosphere of a carnival gives me the willies. I'm glad you all had a great time.

What a WONDERFUL family day - just the four of you!!! Remember my post about when we went to our local carnival thing? Scares me to death - but we did it!!! Hilarious. And I love the picture of you with cranky boy - how true that is. The dad gets all the fun stuff - and the mom just gets the meltdowns! :)
