One Month Check Up!!

McKenna had her one month check up today. I have to laugh because she now weighs exactly what Christian did when he was born, it took her a month to get there. She weighs 9lbs 2oz. That means she gained half a pound this week. She is 21.5 inches long and she is in the 50th percentile for everything. Christian, of course, was in the 100th percentile for everything. He was a chubby boy from the start, but I'm very happy to have an average girl. McKenna's only issue right now is that she has cradle cap. It doesn't seem to bother her one bit, but it certainly annoys me, so if any of you mommies have an suggestions about how to get rid of it just let me know. From what I understand you just deal with it until it goes away on it's own. So anyway, we got a great report from the pediatrician (pretty sad when they know your child by name...and she's only a month old). Today has been a very normal day. Normal is good. We haven't had too many normal days lately, so I'm enjoying it while it lasts!!

Normal IS good!!! How relieved everyone is to have this month sort of behind you! Cradle cap is just annoying - keep washing and scrubbing away (very hard for mommies, but it will go away). Nothing else you can do. Sounds like she is doing great. Is nursing going better now that everyone's feeling better?

My cradle cap suggestion-rub with baby oil and then use a comb. Comes right out, but not without greasy hair for a while. Usually one or two washes gets the oil out - Good luck!

So glad to hear you had a normal day!!! Baby Oil works wonders for cradle cap and the soft little brush. If it gets really bad, I have heard there is some stuff that you can buy (I forget the name of it, but it is in with the baby stuf) that works really well, too. It's homeopathic but it's a little pricey.

I'm glad things are getting back to "normal"...whatever that is, right? We have a saying in my family that "normal is just a setting on the dryer." :) But seriously, I am rejoicing with you that everyone is healthy and getting into a routine, etc. :) We knew that day would come!

Yay for normal days and 50th percentile! I'm sure you'll take cradle cap any day over the flu, pink eye and stomach viruses! I used a little nylon brush that came from the hospital (probably the one they used on him for his first bath) and I used it to wash his hair in the tub. He seemed to like the extra scrubbing and massaging. Time seemed to be the best thing for cradle cap.

I'm glad to hear everything's getting back to normal.

Judy, we used Head and Shoulders for Scott's scalp. He had very severe skin issues and cradle cap in the beginning and the DR said to use the Head and Shoulders. But be careful not to get it in her eyes. It smells good and doesn't make baby all greasy.
I am glad to hear she (and everyone else) is getting back to normal.
